When no one else showed up, I decided rain or not I had to go out and see how the big waves were hitting at the 804. I drove down there, and by the time I arrived the sky had cleared. Dark to the south and to the north, and a break of some blue sky for Yachats. I went out and puddle jumped along the trail and enjoyed the spectacular wave action going on. It was beautiful.
Towards the end of my walk I happened upon another woman out enjoying the waves and we got to talking, her name is Kelly, and she visits here when she can and loves Yachats. We talked of hiking in the area, and the Waldport Walkers, and she said if she lived here she'd join us. I told her about the Blodgett Road Trail and then offered to give her a tour today, so we hopped into my car and I took her up to that trail and we walked up to the end and back down and she got to see a new woods trail in the local area. We had a great hike together.
Upon returning to town I noticed that Keady Wayside had been hammered by the surf. Both entrances were blocked off and the wayside was covered in sharp rocks and debris clear out into the roadway! Apparently my concern over the parking spaces was well founded indeed. The surf threw sharp rocks all over the place, and they weren't small either.
All in all, it turned out to be a wonderful day to be out hiking and surf watching and Waldport Walker friend making :)
