November 25, 2019 - Cooper Ridge Trail

Today was very dark and rainy, and the prospects of a dry walk looked dubious at best.  Robyn and Bob both showed up and since Bob hadn't seen the Cooper Ridge Trail before, and it looked darker to the south than the north, we decided to give it a shot and headed north to South Beach State Park.  It rained on the way, and had a squall go through and end about the time we arrived.  We geared up in our rain gear, and Bob said he'd put on his rain pants to assure that we wouldn't get rain on the hike.  He joked, but it apparently worked pretty well!  We headed out from the day use area and headed towards the frisbee golf area and the trailhead.  We walked it fairly fast paced, I suppose so that we'd outrun the next squall hopefully.  Bob said he thought it was more like 2-3 miles around.  Hard to tell as I thought it was more, but we walked fairly quickly and made it back to Keady in a couple hours or so including driving time.  It turned out to be a great time to go hiking, we stayed dry and enjoyed the hike.  Nice surprise to hike between the rain storms.

In our fast paced walk I didn't think to stop and take pictures, so I'll just post one extra one I took today after our hike.  I was kind of hoping to play in the rain today, so I went down to the 804 to see how the big waves were looking and walked that in the pouring rain squall at first, and then the sun came out and by the end there was a nice rainbow in the gray sky as a parting gift for venturing out on a rainy day.

A gray day on the 804
