We drove north up to Ona Beach area, turned onto N. Beaver Creek Road, and took the S. Beaver Creek Road turnoff. We drove up it a few miles and realized we'd missed the trailhead, then drove back, and missed it again. Unsure what we were looking for we went to the Welcome Center to see what we could find out. No one was there yet as it didn't open until noon, so we walked the trails there, not sure of the first one that we headed down the hill on, but we managed to connect with the Overlook Trail along the way and walked that loop too. All in all not a long hike, but it was nice and the mushrooms were out.
Then we drove back to S. Beaver Creek Rd. and finally found the trailhead to Beaver Creek Loop Trail which is 2.1 miles plus some gravel road walking. There is a nice pullout across from the entrance for parking. It is a road for a bit, and we ended up at a red barn, where more of a trail started. We hiked that up and about, finding out that there are many other marked and named trail offshoots to the Beaver Creek Loop Trail, but we stayed on the loop. it was fairly easy walking until it went up, and then it did go up for a bit before it became more easy.
We found out that where the loop comes back out onto the road that we'd missed that possible entrance to the trail earlier on the gravel road because it wasn't marked at all. Great day for a hike, though the trail was muddy in some parts which made for slick footing at times. We managed to do all our hike and headed out just as the rains started to try to start.
